Training and FDP requests from external organisations
EdTech Society offers relevant, up-to-date training programmes and faculty development programmes (FDPs) to schools, colleges, universities, industry, government and NGOs, fairly and transparently.
What this policy covers
This policy sets out a framework for EdTech Society to provide training and development to external organisations: academia (schools and higher education institutions), industry, government and NGOs. It covers the types of training offered, eligibility and how to request a programme.
Eligibility: any such organisation with at least 25 participants and a clear objective based on a needs analysis can request a programme, at least 4 weeks in advance.
Three ways to run a programme
All modes are synchronous and include hands-on activities.
What we train on
The list is not exhaustive; suggestions for new topics are welcome.
How long programmes run
Programmes usually run for 2, 3, 5 (one week), 10 (two weeks) or 15 (three weeks) working days, online, offline or hybrid. Institutions may also request a customised FDP in offline, online, blended or hybrid mode.
We advise institutions to carry out a needs analysis first. It helps the institution and the Society agree on the rigour and duration of the programme.
From needs analysis to certificates
Requests are made through the online application form (the “Request a training” button at the top of this page). Include the type of training, the reason it is needed, the needs analysis, an entry survey of participants’ current level, and the expected benefits. The Society curates the programme from the needs analysis and entry survey.
How requests are decided
The Training and Development Committee reviews every request and decides based on the proposed dates, location, budget and availability of resource persons.
Course fees
- Four sessions a day of 90 minutes each, two before and two after lunch.
- ₹12,000 per day plus GST as applicable, the same for all modes.
- The fee covers a group of 25 participants. Larger groups are charged pro rata at ₹1,500 per person per day plus GST.
- The fee includes academic fees, course material and certification. No additional honorarium for resource persons is expected.
- For offline sessions, the host institution bears the resource persons’ travel (air fare or 1AC train fare, and actual taxi fare for local travel), accommodation and local hospitality.
- The host institution provides the hardware and infrastructure.
- If the host institution cancels the programme for any reason, it pays the Society 10% of the total cost as administrative expenses.
Certification, liaison and definitions
Who receives a certificate?
Participants receive a Certificate of Participation from EdTech Society and the host institution jointly. They need 100% attendance and must submit all feedback. Following the attendance rules of regulatory bodies, at least 75% attendance is mandatory; participants must inform the course coordinator in advance of any absence for valid reasons, such as medical reasons.
What does the liaison representative do?
The host institution appoints a liaison representative (LR) who coordinates everything between the host institution, the external organisation and the resource persons:
arrangements for hardware, software, attendance, certificates and other requirements; lodging, boarding and reimbursement paperwork for resource persons and participants where needed; the needs analysis; and overall coordination so the programme runs smoothly.
The Society also designates one liaison representative, and the two work together.
Host institution and external organisation
The external organisation is any organisation that requests a training programme for its people: academic institutions (universities, colleges and schools), industry, government, NGOs and others. The host institution hosts the programme and provides its facilities. If they are different, they work together; the Society is not party to discussions between them.
Online, offline, hybrid and contact sessions
Online: participants and resource persons join live on an agreed video-conferencing platform. Offline: participants attend in person at the external organisation’s or host institution’s campus. Hybrid: some participants attend online and others in person at the same time; resource persons may be online or in person. Contact sessions: offline sessions held at agreed intervals during an online programme.
