Certified trainers and training standards
The requirements and procedures for becoming an EdTech Society certified trainer, so that educators get high-quality, effective professional development in educational technology and evidence-based pedagogy.
Who can become a certified trainer
How trainers are certified
The Society may also ask for a portfolio of relevant experience, qualifications and ed-tech expertise, or for completion of the EdTech Society Trainer Certification Programme (adult learning principles, instructional design, assessment and effective delivery).
What we expect of trainers
Expertise and content
- Stay current with the latest advances in educational technology and pedagogy.
- Align training with the Society’s goals; keep content research-based, practical and suited to the audience.
Delivery
- Tell participants the target audience, prerequisites, title and learning objectives in advance.
- Suggest, in advance, how the effectiveness of the training could be assessed (desirable, not mandatory).
- Say in advance what data will be collected from or about learners and how it will be used. Data collection and use must follow the Society’s data policy.
- Run engaging, interactive sessions using a variety of methods, in a collaborative environment where participants take part and ask questions.
Assessment, ethics and professionalism
- Develop and use assessments to measure participant learning and programme effectiveness.
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and stay professional in all interactions with participants.
