Practitioner Research Idea Summit (PRISm)
The Practitioner Research Idea Summit (PRISm) is a flagship initiative of the EdTech Society, supported by the Centre for Educational Technology, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. PRISm aims to facilitate community building among teachers to promote scholarship of teaching and learning, and support them in transitioning towards educational technology research. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay contributes human resources and expertise to ensure the programme’s academic rigour and practical relevance.
First launched in 2023 as the Workshop on Documenting Educational Technology Research (DETR), the programme continued under this name in 2024. In 2025, it has been renamed to Practitioner Research Idea Summit (PRISm) to reflect its broader objective of supporting practitioner-led research across diverse educational contexts. It brings together Learners, from diverse fields such as Engineering, Liberal Arts, and School teachers who do not have prior research experience in the field of educational technology. These learners are guided by experienced mentors called Research Buddies. By blending interactive sessions, mentorship, and collaborative learning, the programme enables learners to explore innovative educational challenges, conduct meaningful research, and present their findings at peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
A Structured Approach to Learning and Research
The programme is completely online and spans around three to four months and has two distinct parts.
